they kept on the music because like in any other performance if it goes wrong you carry on from where it went wrong. Not making a big deal out of it and stopping the music everytime something goes wrong...

As Chris Dean says just after, and also Tony Gubba the commentator makes the comment that it was choreographed for him to go off waving his arms, just not that crazy for him to fall over and crash into the guys ready to catch him behind the set. You can see him catch the front of his skate as he goes out, with speed.
He tried to re-create it on the final and you can tell THAT version was staged, obviously to re-create this NOT STAGED moment.
