should i look out for cpu temps or core temps when overclocking?

Rodney, you are pretty much a badass. You are very informative, and, unlike some other people, you don't treat the un-tech savvy people like idiots.

I've been experiencing some weird temperature fluctuations in my system lately, and because of it I'm going to change from air cooling to oil.
I'm using HWmonitor now, and the readings are a little odd... CPU temperature shows as room temp plus a little more (23ºC), the CORES however show a huge difference, ranging from 40ºC for one core, while some of the cores are at 45ºC.
My case has good airflow, yet the temp readings are all over the place. Northbridge is at 75ºC during load btw.
Why?

Strange.. My CPU Temp is almost 10C higher than my core temps. Is this something that I should be worried about?
