The peace sign has survived over 50 years because it is a symbol of hope, and because it is a philosophy uniting loving people.
Directed and filmed by Zev, The Symbol of Peace will share the inspiring stories and dreams of the people who love the peace sign, and who have created their own peace signs to display on their homes and businesses and parks. Here in Woodstock, New York, we are surrounded by the symbol; it is part of our daily landscape. It seems fitting for Woodstock to be the center of the documentary.
We'll balance the presentation with comments from individuals who have different views of the symbol.
We think these stories will help us focus once more on the dream of peace.
Ken Kolsbun, the author of Peace: The Biography of a Symbol (published by National Geographic) has graciously offered to lend his perspective on the peace sign's history. In addition, Gea Austen, daughter of Eric Austen (the creator of the first peace badges) will be sharing her stories as well. Creators and owners of peace signs in Woodstock NY (including Alex Nahow, Lucy Scala, Jesse Reimer and Bill Topazio) and elsewhere are already eager to share their stories with us.
YAYYYYYYYYY ZEV!!! Go peace! :D
