@jaflans Love to educate and entertain a bit. Thanks!

Great video. Good to see a vet with a sense of humor making a disgusting situation kind of fun! :)

@bigboreguy Glad it helps! I'm amazed at the number of dogs with the problem.

Excellent vid mate.
Are there any other ways to treat this smelly issue, rather than emptying the glands? Have a new rescue who is super nervous and it smells, daily... Hes not very comfortable with human touch just yet, so thats why I ask.
Cheers!

@cyphercomplete That could be stress. Stressed and scared dogs often release them. More fiber like a tbsp of pumpkin daily may help. Toy breeds often have bad plumbing =small pipes that get clogged. Food allergy to wheat gluten may cause irritation of the glands and anal irritation=scooting. Avoid grains in food and treats and chews!

cokiemeli 4 days ago
@cokiemeli Most dogs never need it done. Some dogs with food allergies or "bad plumbing" need it done monthly

is it really safe to do it at home? I mean, if you're not a veterinarian

@kostariddle Many people do it from the outside and gently from the inside.Groomers often learn to do this to help out
