If interested in adoption, you must fill out an application at www.cairnrescueusa.com.

Petite and docile Jane is just a year old but she has endured an early life that no dog should have to experience. You see Jane, along with 11 other young Cairns, was relinquished to Cairn Rescue USA by an elderly "back yard breeder" who was keeping the dogs in rabbit cages in a drafty make-shift shelter. At a time when Jane should have been experiencing the joys of being a puppy, she was instead being used as a breeding bitch to produce other puppies.

Thankfully, Jane is now in a foster home and is beginning life anew. But she will require a dedicated and patient family who can teach her the ropes and help her gain confidence. Jane was exceedingly skinny when she came to us and weighed only 8 lbs. She was most likely given sub-standard food and not enough of it and as a result, she is famished and quickly downs her meals. She does not understand that it is improper to "do her business" in her crate and potty training will take time, consistency and patience.

Jane is in a home with another dog and gets along with her just fine but it is PEOPLE that she longs to be with. This is a dog that has been starved for attention and affection. She loves being held and cuddled and is happiest when sitting on her foster mom's lap. She loves being outside in the fenced yard but is uncomfortable in the snow and stays on the concrete. Although she had never before been on a leash, she walks quite nicely on-lead and loves to go for walks down the street with her foster mom.

Jane would do best in an all-adult household where there is someone home a good portion of the day Another dog would be fine but more important is the presence of a loving caretaker who can shower Jane with the time and affection that she so desperately seeks.

Jane is spayed and up-to-date on all vaccinations, and receives a monthly heartworm and flea tick preventative.
