This was part of a video project I did while working as a projectionist in the early 80s. This portion I shot in the booth at the Starlite Drive and shows Mark Fluet, member of the I.A.T.S.E. local 256, performing a manual changeover between reels using simplex projectors and carbon arc lamphouses

  • I made my 1st change over in 1970 @ the Absecon Drive-In, near Atlantic City, NJ. It was one of the best rushes I ever had! We had a pair of Simplex XL's & a pair of Strong Excelite arc lamps with metal reflectors. I've run many Ash Craft lamps from Suprex, to Super Core Lite's. I still have an old Griswald splicer. That film cement smelled good!. I now have my own drive-in , near Williamsport, PA. Both booths have platters, but I'd like to convert on back to change overs.
