Assemblies in Nytro terms, are hierarchies of model scene nodes, particle systems or other scene nodes, and even other assemblies, each assembly has slots where you can set what to show in that slot. Also you can have physic bodies with physics shapes attached to slots/models, and slots can be attached by their parents by physic joints, that can also break when powerful forces are applied. Assemblies are automatically exported from COLLADA hierarchies, but they can also be edited in the NytroStudio assembly editor. With assemblies you can make any kind of ...assembled object, like cars, tanks, robots, machinery, etc.
well, it's not just simple hierarchy :), its a little bit more, a slot can be occupied by any kind of scene node and can be swapped at runtime with other scene nodes, like changing weapons etc., and more
