Shit. I used to watch this in the rec room at Webb AFB in 1969. 18 years old. A city boy. I loved Hee Haw and will never forget how it got me through the AF...more or less!?!

My family immigrated from the Middle East to the U.S. about the time this show was on the air.

I remember my father watching it and saying, "This isn't what I thought America would be like."

As a young Marine in the late 1960s we would frequently find ourselves on 50 mile force marches in full combat gear at Camp Pendleton, California. We loved to sing the tune "Agony on me", the entire platoon joined in and it was great fun and broke the monotony of the usual cadences of the gunny, our troop handler. He joined right in on the song as well. I still remember all the smiling faces while we made up our own verses.
