Towering Towers Update 13 - Distance Test - Last Demo Before Paint

This is a project i have been working on for a long time in between other projects around the shop.

These "towering towers" have finally gotten to a point where i can test listen to them, actually they have been like this for a few weeks. Before i finished up the "body work" on them and sent them out for paint, I had a plan to do a "distance test" to show how far these things can be heard...and from deep inside my shop. We actually filmed how far away it can be heard and it was extremely far, way past what you will see in this video. The only problem is, i lost those video clips in a hard drive crash and to make things worse, i got in that car accident which delayed my game another 2 weeks. Well i am almost ready to pull all the speakers out and finally finish these things but i wanted to at least get somewhat of a distance test in before i pull them apart for the last time. Like i said, i didnt go as far out in this video, as the video in the lost clips, but its far enough to give you an idea. Its the first nice day in a month and its too muddy to go much further. Once finished, and a little more dry outside, i will remake a video like this and we will REALLY see how far they can be heard....stay tuned!




the system consists of: 2 crown xti 4000's (bass) and 2 crown 2000w amps..... The Towers EACH will have (8) 7" Ascendant Audio Carbon mids, (4) Morel Tweeters and 1 Ascendant Audio SMD 18" woofer. There is 2 18" Passive radiators in each tower to reinforce the LOW LOWS!

Everything is all Actively crossed over, no passives at all. I use a DBX drive-rack for that.....

****This is more about the mids/highs then the subwoofers as they are SEVERELY UNDERPOWERED. I dont have the circuit setup yet to support this much power and it WILL pop the breaker...therefore the subwoofers are turned down substantially - Until i get it fixed.....

Steve, can you also show us how you wired your 8 mid speakers to one channel? it would be a great help for newbies to learn how to wire multiple speakers or tweeters to one channel like you did with your awesome towers. please keep the awesome vids coming.....teach us more.

so friggin cool Steve. i am going to diy a set but i dont know shyt about wiring. can you please take a minute to draw a picture how to wire four 4 ohm car speakers to a 4 ohm load? i hope it's possible. i know how to wire two 2 ohm speakers to 4 ohms but not four 4 ohm to 4 ohms. please help me. thanks man.
