A must-see. This week's "urgents", dogs in shelters needing rescue or adoption. Here are some good reasons to consider opening your heart and home to a rescue dog.
UPDATE: Up-to-date info on the dogs in this video - please note some ages etc in the clips were in accurate:
PATCH: not 12 months but 7 months old. Boxer cross. Good with dogs, cats, and people. Bit energetic so supervision advised with little ones. Good manners for a cooped-up puppy.
ZENA - seized on a cruelty complaint, stressed in shelter. Had no fur upon arrival, now growing back. No dogs, probably no cats, good with people. 6.5 yrs old
KIRA - 12-18 months old, poss Catahoula Leopard Dog/Hound cross, poss with Husky? Good with dogs, unknown with cats, bit energetic so recommend older kids. Stressed in shelter.
TIBBS - 2.5YO Lab x Shar Pei, currently being used as test dog with other dogs in the shelter - he's that good, probably good with cats, OK with people - loves everyone and well-behaved. "Not pretty enough" to get any interest in shelter.
DEOGIE - 6YO APBT type - no cats, OK with dogs, bit bouncy so no small kids, a shelter favourite - been there 16 months...needs out
DIXIE - about 3 yrs old, black Labrador Retriever, picked up stray running with another female dog, was fine with her, once in shelter did not like other dogs. Came to the shelter pregnant and had a litter, all adopted, she is now becoming better with other dogs. VERY stressed, not showing well at all, needs out.
I've just found out today (Aug 25) that 9 more dogs have been brought to the shelter since the video was shot 4 days ago and some dogs will be put down this week. There are several Black and Tan Coonhounds and other coonhounds that are also very urgent.
THANK YOU KEVIN MACLEOD FOR THE MUSIC.
If i was one of them i obviously want to go out to. What kind of animal shelter is this, the walls are dirty and enclosures so small. Its just disgusting. If you want to run an animal shelter at least have the time to wash the walls and bring them out for walks daily. Dixie look like she didn't go out for a long time. Do something or i'll go to court and ask them to close you down.

If you read the info or the video, you'd see that these dogs were in shelters and we were trying to take them in. Peeling paint is not dirt and the exercise area the dogs play in is on the clip, and the converted horse stalls that they live in. I'm sure they wish all their runs were that size too but it's not shelters' fault that so many people dispose of their dogs. I'm sure they'd love some help.

We're in Southwestern Ontario - we don't have a shelter or even an office, and our volunteers are scattered between Toronto and London, Hamilton and Guelph. We deal with shelters all over Ontario and sometimes beyond.
