What I hate most about it is the UNnecessary cruelty. Gymnastics is a tough sport and success is only possible through pain and, YES, severe punishments. Those kids must fear the pain from the punishment more than they fear the pain from the sport. That's the only way. But those coaches are just plain sadists. Just like almost all of them.
