Belgrade (Beograd or "The White City|) is the capital of Serbia, and has a population of around 1.6 million. It is situated in South-Eastern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula, at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. It is one of the oldest cities in Europe and has since ancient times been an important focal point for traffic, an intersection of the roads of Eastern and Western Europe.
As a strategic location, the city has been involved in 115 wars and razed to the ground 44 times. Belgrade was the capital of Yugoslavia from its creation in 1918 to its dismemberment in 1992.
Belgrade is the capital of Serbian culture, education, science and economy. As a result of its tumultuous history, Belgrade has for centuries been home to many nationalities, with Serbs of the Orthodox Christian religion making up the majority of the population (90%). The official language is Serbian. Various styles of architecture dominate the city, while its recent resurgence as the leading hub in south-eastern Europe make it a must see destination.
The clip also features several slides of Novi Sad. Images of Petrovaradin fortress, part of Novi Sad and the Monument to victims of the raid on the bank of the Danube in Novi Sad. Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia and it is known as the Serbian Athens. Novi Sad was the cultural and spiritual center of the Serbian people during the Habsburg monarchy in that part of the empire. (2:27 to 2:44).

@MilanKaraburma -Thanks so much for your comments. I tried to post all pics for Novi Sad to its own video - but was confused by some photos taken from across the river in Belgrade. Thanks for your corrections
