  • @jobdunghill exactly, it is not a fact of whether lively off-center or throwing precisely is better, it should be a balance of being able to some of both. i do not put down other people's style of throwing but I often receive criticism for wanting to throw more even, symmetrical, and thin. it is not the most important part of ceramics, but it is something I enjoy improving. comes down to being given a lump of clay and seeing the endless possibilites when you ask yourself "what can I make here?"

  • your bat isnt quit circular enough

  • holy crap. how much clay was that lb wise? and that'd be fun to glaze i must admit! i wanna try it out at school if my teacher will allow it xD

  • I am a production potter. We do not do as many shapes as you. I love your work. Thank you for putting it on you tube I have been following your posts for a few years.

  • Shoji Hamada threw off center, end of discussion. Throwing on center is pointless unless you want a perfectly straight pot, like a flower pot. throwing on center is for beginners.

i make plenty of bottles with a wobble, when you make the bottle neck it creates a nice wave. if perfectly straight is your idea of altering then you might wanna rethink a little*

  • @7kole4 yeah. I meant slow down the rate of his pulls. If throwing on center is lame, what's the point? You get better structural integrity, taller, thinner forms. If you want something off center, modify it when it's off the wheel. There's no reason not to strive for better technique at all times.

  • @jobdunghill

you do understand that the wheel he is on has different speeds... its not a foot peddle.

    throwing on center is lame.

  • Collaring just hides the wobble. Slow down man!

  • very nice throwing but your wheel plate is weiirrdddddd it spins unevenly but your clay is centered

  • 3:20 looks wrong -.-
