Between 6 and 10 August 2011, many London districts and some other cities and towns in England suffered widespread rioting, looting and arson.
Following a peaceful march on 6 August 2011 in relation to the police response to the fatal shooting of Mark Duggan by Metropolitan Police Service firearms officers on 4 August 2011, a riot began in Tottenham, North London. In the following days, rioting spread to several London boroughs and districts and eventually to some other areas of England, with the most severe disturbances outside of London occurring in Bristol and cities in the Midlands and North West of England. Localised events connected to the major riots also took place in many smaller towns and cities in England.
The riots were characterised by rampant looting and arson attacks of unprecedented levels. As a result, British Prime Minister David Cameron returned early from his holiday in Italy and other government and opposition leaders also ended their holidays to attend to the matter. Additionally, all police leave was cancelled and Parliament was recalled on 11 August to debate the situation.
As of 15 August, about 3,100 people have been arrested, of whom more than 1,000 have been charged.[10] Arrests, charges and court proceedings continue, with courts working extended hours.
Five people died and at least 16 others were injured as a direct result of related violent acts. An estimated £200 million worth of property damage was incurred, and local economic activity was significantly compromised.
Police action has been blamed for the initial riot, and the subsequent police reaction has been criticised as being neither appropriate nor sufficiently effective. The riots have generated significant ongoing debate among political, social and academic figures about the causes and context in which they happened. The Governments removal of discipline in Schools goes back a generation or two now but this was the beginning of a lack of respect given by a lot of children to adults in our Schools and public life. These children grew up into adults with no respect for anyone or anything and have passed this culture on to their own children. Each generation therefore gets worse and worse for poor behaviour.
I believe bringing discipline back into daily life at home and in Schools is the key to getting Britain back on the right path. Of Course, this alone will not solve the problems, and we have a couple of generations of louts in our society already that needs dealing with.

The Government should forget about the 'Human Rights' laws for now and concentrate on sorting out what needs to be done for the benefit of the Country as a whole.

These looters and rioters need catching and given harsh penalties. They need to learn what is right from wrong ! It makes no difference what nationality or culture they are from. Wrong is wrong. They all ran around in packs together looting shops and businesses without regard to who they were stealing from or setting fire too. They acted like savages in the 17th century !

The Government should also start a new National Service training for at least a year for all School leavers of whatever nationality or culture who have not got University places or a job within 6 months of leaving. No going home because you feel sick etc. This should be compulsory to all able bodied. This will instill a pride and loyalty to our own Country.

Benefits should not be paid to migrants coming to sit around and do nothing. Again, 6 months and it stops. Either get a job or go back to where you came from. There is a lot of resentment to the amount of migrants still influxing into the UK and draining the benefit system whilst growing ghetto's in lovely seaside towns ruining these areas. -

  • thanks Warbles for your comments but it is useless to talk about 17th century. ( We all were monkeys many many years ago). As a immigrant in Uk, I want to tell you that as any other human society, the British were not or are not total purity but the most important thing is, they look back, understand their mistakes, say sorry and take the steps to prevent same mistake happening again.

  • @ddirector G'day... Well, nice editing, & a condescending patronising choice of title, & soundtrack... The fact is that in the 17th Century, the most Savage Barbarians, on the face of the Planet, were the British Army & Navy..! Read Prebble, on Cullodden..! Now, Y'r entire Industrial Economy's unable to sustain itself, due to previous Economic Growth having already used up the Entire Global Environmental Surplus... And, the Proles are revolting. Due to CRUMPLED Dreams !
