  • No One has the diction of this lady, She was the Queen,

You will likely need to (gasp!) get the actual album--"Dinah Jams", from 1954.

  • I LOVE this song but to me the Best version is from Sting!!! <3

  • Absolutely fantastic rendition of this song! I plan on singing it to my man...not that I'm Dinah or Billy, Etta or Ella...but I love this song soooo much, and I can sing. ;o)

  • What a powerful testament to LOVE. And Dinah sings it passionately.

  • @havisham3 This is really Great ! May I suggest Billie Holiday's version?

  • blah blah blah all of you shut up and listen!

  • @ilovewiki

You may prefer Holiday's interpretation, but you can't argue that her style is more appropriate for the lyric. This song isn't about lost love. The lyrics are basically wedding vows. Also, please spare me the condescension on YouTube etiquette. Thanks!

I prefer Holiday's singing of a love lost, or unrequited, to Dinah's happier version. I only posted a comment, because, that's what you do on youtube videos...you post comments. I'm sorry, if you can't understand that simple fact. A few people were talking about Billie Holiday, so I posted my own. In my view, I prefer her tone and her interpretation of the song, compared to Dinah's.I wasn't posting a nonsensical hate post of Dinah for the hell of it, that is all to common here.

I'm doing none of the above. I personally find your commenting on Dinah Washington's video that you prefer Billie Holiday to be petty, but c'est la vie! I've spent a good deal of money on Holiday's catalog, and I cherish her earlier recordings. I asked you to support your statement that "Billie Holiday owns this song", and you haven't really done it. The lyrics are a testament of enduring love, yet Billie sounds like she is singing of love lost. I'm sorry you can't hear that.

  • @direfranchement

Now you're sounding petty, you're turning this into a war, of who is a better singer...I never stated anything like that.
