A critical look at the results of the fall of monarchies around the world. As much as monarchies are often portrayed in a negative light, where they have fallen the result has been mass murder and oppressive dictatorships on a scale without equal in the history of the world. From the concentration camps of Germany, the gulags of Russia, the reign of terror in France and the killing fields of Cambodia over and over again the loss of the monarch has meant unspeakable suffering and a monumental death toll for the peoples of the world.

  • Democracy=Capitalism Capitalism=millions homeless.

  • @SuperTravis898 No, democracy=socialism socialism=a world in debt to future generations. Capitalism is keeping your own money, people don't vote for that, they vote for socialism which is helping themselves to their neighbor's money. The problem, as Baroness Thatcher said, is that eventually you run out of "other peoples" money.

  • Oh and the British monarchy led to ... ?

  • @prisonerno3 When the British monarchy was overthrown it led to the military dictator Oliver Cromwell, state Puritanism, the abolition of Christmas etc and the massacres in Ireland, overall such a brutal and dreary regime that when he died the people were overjoyed to have King Charles II back.

  • ah... in Vietnam... them emperor Bao Dai was

was ousted from power by Ngo DInh Diem

  • @joaolimabahia No, Bao Dai was 'Chief of State' (Quoc Truong) when Diem pushed him out. He had earlier been forced to abdicate as Emperor of Vietnam by the communist dictator Ho Chi Minh during the August Revolution of 1945.

  • I believe in constitutionalism, and so I am perfectly fine with any monarch that respects the rights and liberties of the people... whether they do so democratically is trivial to me. Democracy or Despotism, they all become the same when the inherit natural liberties that all people are born with are disrespected.

  • And in Denmark we're just fine with our monarchy and our Social Democratic government, thank you very much.

  • Also, interestingly enough, the Japanese were the ones that attempted to restore the Manchu dynasty king Puyi and the Japanese Empire went to war after the Emperor had his power cut by the military. The weakening of the Spanish throne eventually paved the way for the Spanish Civil War. The United States is literally the only country to successfully navigate their way from rule under a monarchy to a democracy without any tyranny at all.

  • I don't believe monarchy will ever die, quite franky in the end all that we are left with is either monarchy/tyranny or aristocracy/oligarchy, democracy is unnatural because it wants everybody to practice two professions, 1. the profession or natural career that a person actually wants to pursue and 2. the profession that the state "imposes", on a person, politician/elector. Some sort of democracy can be achieved but i believe that this is possible on the more local level

  • Long Live King Richard! King of Edan!

  • Actually, Mao ZeDong's list of murders was over 80 million, not 70, but whatever. The number is still high.
