Here is a clip From the "Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler from Randol's" show of Joe Douglas & The American Cajun Band. Randol's is a cajun resturant/ dance hall located in Lafayette, Louisiana. I would HIGHLY recommend a meal and dance there anytime. Check them out at http://www.randols.com Almost every night they feature a Cajun band.
Joe Douglas and his band - I am not that familiar with. If anyone has info about this very good band, please let me know and I'll post info.

  • Just wanted to let you know Joe Douglas and the All American Cajun Band disbanded in 1991. It then became Joe Douglas "The Bayou Boss". My father Lester Broussard was the bass player and played from 1984, when I was born to 2002 when I graduated High School. This video was recorded in 1988 contrary to the date posted. Joe only plays once or twice a year now. If you want any more info on this you can contact me and I have a CD that he recorded Somewhere.

  • The date was on the video already. I did not insert the date so if there is a mistake, it was Randol's. Tell your father he is well respected.

  • What's the name of the second song they play? It is a cover, right? It reminds me of 'Grandpa was a carpenter' from John Prine, but I'm not sure.

  • you're lucky, scrambler390 and broadband102 to have had un pere comme ca;

    Pierre

  • A tous les cajuns,un bonjour de Paris,France,et une grosse bise!!!

  • Met Joe on the Frog Festival in Rayne in 1997. After that weekend he took me out on a boattrip where he was playing with his band for Tabasco. I made a video of that gig which I will add to Youtube soon. His great - great grandparents came from Belgium. He is born in Breaux Bridge and lives in Henderson now. His real name is Joe Badon.

    I took his picture in 2006 when I visted him again. If you Google: 'Emile Waagenaar Mijn weblog' you will find Joe's portrait there.

  • Love this video.....my favorite traditional cajun music. !!!

  • They sing in French Helen because the music originated among the decendants of the French settlers who settled in Acadia. They were known as 'Acadians' over the years this became shortened to 'Cajuns', hence the name Cajun Music. french is the predominant language of Cajun Music.

  • Well tell me then, why is he singing in French?

    Surely the name Douglas is not traditionally French?

    I am really curious, and would love to know.

    Douglas is a name common in my own country - Ireland.

    Great sound

  • This must be my favourite of all the Cajun videos.

  • Just curious - why is a man called Joe Douglas singing songs in French?
