The country of Yemen, strategically located at the southern tip of the Arabian peninsula, is considered by experts to be one of the Arab world's poorest and most lawless. It's facing an extreme water shortage, a population set to double, and the country's main source of revenue, oil reserves, running dry. Experts say this makes Yemen a breeding ground for al-Qaida. Yemeni authorities say the Nigerian charged with trying to destroy a Detroit-bound airplane was in Yemen as recently as this month. VOA's Laurel Bowman has more from Washington.
