Turning Gingerbread Into Gold: Nicholas Ang, a 28-year-old student in the pastry division at Le Cordon Bleu, took home top prize and a $1,000 cheque at the seventh annual gingerbread house building contest, hosted by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Mr. Ang won for his double house, pictured here, inspired by the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas. Students at Cité Collégiale won second prize and Moneca Kaiser finished in third. The gingerbread houses were auctioned off over the weekend at the Rideau Centre and organizers hoped to raise at least $5,000 for the national capital region chapter of Habitat for Humanity.
