@gringo5866279 The third season never got made, so it just ended with Will and co making it back to the White Mountains from the City of Gold. As they got to the mountains, they saw that the entrance to the caves was burnt out.
And then it ended. Cliffhanger with no resolution.
@NickR1980 This was an early 80's BBC Sunday afternoon family drama series.
There was also an American late 80's - early 90's War of the Worlds TV show that ran for two seasons. I don't remember ever actually seeing it so I can't comment on whether that is what you remember.
@legostudios120 No, it's based on a trilogy of books by John Christopher. The series is set in the future, where mankind has been reduced to a medieval style of living having been conquered in the late 20th century by the Tripods - alien invaders from another world. The Tripods control the remnants of humanity with "caps" - electronic implants that tap into the brain. A group of free men try to discover what has happened to the world and how to defeat the Tripods.
COME ON BBC! bring back the Tripods for one last final series PLEASE!!!!!!!!! It wouldn't be so expensive now days!
