CPS workers are usually not social workers, though a few are. They are what one would call caseworkers: they manage cases of alleged child abuse. Secondly, I live in Suffolk County, in addition to being a social worker, and I agree with you, when it comes to your will to see families kept together. Ultimately, however, kids need to be safe. And erring, and then rectifying, on the side of caution, for the sake of our children, is worth the inconvenience. And, let her have her day in court.

If a crime has been committed, the police should be the ones involved, not 20 yr old CPS workers. And when a child is brutally ripped from their family and everything they know and love it is horrifically traumatic for everyone involved. I would not describe it as an "inconvenience."

Precisely. I've only seen child kidnappings on video - and only portions of the kidnapping. I can only imagine the pain, suffering and horror such an event would entail. But one thing is blatantly obvious to me: Only the most evil and sadistic monster could do this kind of "work."

If we could get rid of that soulless word "clinical" we'd shut down most of this criminality! HEY YOU explain what no one else can---how IS it that a degree in "mental health" disciplines IMMUNIZES its holder against all "disorders?" Does any REAL MD claim his degree gives him immunity against the illnesses with which his specialty deals? Do dermatologists get immunity against wasp stings? No but "mental health professionals" are immune from "disorders" (BECAUSE THEY WON'T ACCUSE EACH OTHER)

@bornbranded29 You are absolutely right. There is a lot of bureaucratic ineptitude and abuse going on here, in schools, social services, and other agencies. As a victim of repeated bureaucratic abuse, I tend to be harsh and judgmental at times. Some folks with advanced degrees and training are abusive and condescending to clients, and seem to have no common sense or morals when manipulating other's lives. Hope she is not one of them.

Ask yourself a few questions. What is the history of child abuse and child advocacy in this country? Why do all of our states have specific agencies dedicated to the investigation of child abuse? Should police departments lump child abuse onto the dozens of types of crimes they investigate, as opposed to states having separate agencies specializing in the problem? In addition, are you saying most removals are improper? If you're not, then you're admitting our need for CPS.

Clinical Social Workers are social workers with a master's degree in social work and 6 years under the supervision of a psychologist or LCSW, training in providing mental health services. A BS would not entitle you to employment as a clinical social worker. And this woman is innocent, until proven guilty.
