Here's my guide on opening up your whammy pedal. It can be a bit tricky once you get all the screws out, so I decided to make a video for it. As you can see mine is modified. You can check out my webpage for a guide on how to do it, and check out my other video clips to hear a sample of the mods in action.

Music is "Vanilla Sky" by my old band "Failure, Arc of Beauty"

  • where on the pcb do you solder a link to make it true bypass? and can you explain how the wires will hook up to a 3pdt switch?

  • If you follow the link in the description you can find a complete walk-through on the mod.

  • What is your mod on this pedal ?

  • It's a truebypass mod, with a momentary switch. (See my other videos)

  • Who wanna do this?

  • Whoever wants to modify their whammy pedal.

  • Thank you for your clear and precise instructions. A credit to youtube.

  • thank you so much! i took it apart and found out why it would jump in the middle of any detune. it was because the clear plastic with faded dots that the laser reads to measure the degree of whammy had a scratch on it. so i buffed it out, turned it on, and presto it works! btw u kind of sound like tom morello

  • its called a true bypass strip

  • I did as you said, but the backplate doesn't want to go off.. it's stuck there (all the screws are removed)

  • thank you!!! that was very helpful!!!!

  • what does true bypass do?

  • why should I open my whammy pedal up???

  • Great video, My whammy has a broken rotary knob, do you know where I can get a replacement or any other fix?

  • you sir, are a legend!

  • I'm not such a fool... and the wh4 does not use batteries. thanks anyway
