OHM is such an amazing album but Navarro just didnt fit in the band 100%, thats the music business for you
-
i really dont know why hardly anyone rates Dave Navarro? His work on this album was sublime.
-
Fact is Froosh can't shred like Dave can. He's a sloppier player. He wouldn't have done Dave's lead work justice
-
@Asaclubs96 John def refused to play any songs from one hot minute i read it in the RHCP picture book, but i never heard of dave saying that. maybe you're getting mixed up
-
@AstorreHerrera It was in an interview I'd watched on youtube from 1999, I can't find it now but I'm pretty sure Anthony says in it that Dave had asked them no to play any material from One Hot Minute :)
-
@Asaclubs96 really? I'd like to read that. Where can I?
No intentions of being rude. Cheers.

@AstorreHerrera I also love Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication & especially By The Way, but One Hot Minute just as much. Dave Navarro not being introduced into the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame this year as a member of the band is such a bad taste statement. There is something really wrong with the Red Hot Chili Peppers beside the whole I'm With You era. Bad juju folks. Cheers.

@theconjob Even John Frusciante can be a complete asshole & I say he was by rejecting this beautiful material that led Anthony, Flea & Chad to the natural progression: Californication. I've been deep into a Red Hot Chili Peppers phase & I hugely surprised myself by finding out One Hot Minute & it's B-sides to be the most comforting listening. The way people lavishly worship even a genius like Frusciante tells of much of the social world really works.

@theconjob ACTUALLY Dave Navarro asked them not to play any of the songs from One Hot Minute, John might've also refused I'm not sure :)

I'm going to go so far as to say this album was their probably one of their biggest musical achievements, next to Blood Sugar. The diversity on the album is stunning (from Tearjerker, to Coffee Shop, to One Hot Minute), Flea and Chad put in ridiculous performances (arguably Flea showcased himself more on Mother's Milk or Uplift but there's a musical maturity here) and Anthony's lyrics are at their deepest at times.
And it pisses me off John refused to play this material when he rejoined.

@Lundahlium 10000 thank yous to you my friend. People complain about it not sounding like a Peppers album when what they really mean is they came around to the Peppers about the time they released Scar tissue and have never heard a non Frusciante driven album. OHM had songs that made you thrash, dance, think about the girl you wanted, and just trip out. Shit, not only did this album not suck, it saved us from 1995 which was dominated by shit like Jewel and Mariah Carey. Thank god for OHM!!!!!
