I agree that the British government payed 88,000,000 pounds towards the company. and I respect you guys for helping his company out.
But the company as well as the car was built in northern Ireland which at the time Ireland was not owned by or apart of the British
government.

@theobserver5000 The assembly plant was in Dunmurry - Northern Ireland, which was, and still is, in the UK!?! The Government invested in the company to help tackle unemploment in the area. There were also offices in Coventry, and the car was designed in Italy and engineered by Lotus in the UK. The steel was made in Sheffield, England. The engine and gearbox was French, and the suspension and braking system were English. However, yes, the founder as well as most of the customers, were American.
