No, playon.tv is not free -- it's free to TRY and then there's a monthly subscription fee. Also, if you have a bluray player with netcast, this is completely useless, because netcast automatically comes with netflix, pandora radio, and another app called divx tv that gives you a lot of public domain tv blips, like adult swim and comedy central ...

Is it free?

What about watching R rated movies? You have to login to Hulu, and there doesn't seem to be a way to enter user name and password through your Wii. Any suggestions?

Hey! How did you get Wii picture to looks so good? I have my wii connected with the AV inputs that came with the system. Are you running a Wii2HD converter?

that's cool, thanks... no need to download and waste blocks on the wii
do you need to have your wii connected to a computer for playon to work?

Sort of. The Wii has to be on the same local network as the computer running playon. In my video you can see that I selected "XP-Desktop" which is the name of my computer running the playon server program.

ohhh so does the computer have to be on when your whatching movies and whatnot? and does it work with laptops?

Yep, the computer is downloading the video and sending it to your Wii. It doesn't matter if it is a laptop or a desktop.
One of the devices (the Wii or the computer) should be connected directly to the router. It doesn't work well if both are using wireless.
