Rochester Police Arrest County Legislator for Questioning Police Conduct

Legislator Willie Lightfoot was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration. The charge was dismissed.




The video shows Legislator Willie Lightfoot approaching the back of his barbershop. Police are looking for a suspect they think ran into his shop. We then see video from the front of the barber shop as police apprehend someone. Lightfoot stands away and watches. He says nothing until he hears something he thinks is totally inappropriate.

"At one point in time, Officer Ed goes up to the kid and he says to him, 'If you move, I'm going to punch you in the face.' When I hear that, I come forward and I point and I say 'You can do your job, but you don't have to do that, that's wrong,'" said Lightfoot.

Lightfoot says he was then threatened.

"I was told, 'You're going to be arrested.' I said, 'You can take me to jail because I'm not going to let you do this.' They put me in the back of the car," said Lightfoot.

Minutes later, Lightfoot found himself in handcuffs, in the back of a squad car and driven around for the next four hours.

"We go from Jefferson, to the Brooks Landing parking lot, to Child Street, to the back of a paddy wagon, driven around to Lyell Avenue. They made me watch a prostitution sting while they filled the paddy wagon up," said Lightfoot.

All this Lightfoot says because he questioned the officers.

"I am an elected official, I am a two time war veteran of the military, and I am an educated African American. I have a college degree," said Lightfoot. "If I'm treated like this, I'm treated like this. Imagine how they treat African-American males in this community every single day and that has to be talked about."

@574dave YEAH, you did miss something, the CONSTITUTION classes they dont teach in municipal thuggery school. You must have also missed your OATH. I and others kept and are keeping our oaths. Why can't you: whose side are you on? The people? Or just anyone that will pay you.

Always call the County Sheriff when having problems with municipal police, they out rank them and are appointed by an elected official, whom depends on your votes.

@574dave BS...they say they "pretect and serve" but they don't protect anyone from anything. They just pick up the pieces after it's too late. That's why we need to be able to protect ourselves, but they're making that harder and harder to do each day. Everything is illegal. You can own a gun but watch out, God forbid you have to use it you'll probably end up in jail on some made up charge. And yes, I pay for them so I expect them to show up if I do call and need an officer.

i dont see any corruption .............i see the police dealing with a guy who had drugs on him and another so called city employee politician and business owner harassing the police and interfering on behalf of someone with drugs instead of thanking the police for making the area safe.................
