  • I have a fuji s5800 digital camera at the moment. It's a good starter camera in my opinion. I have had it for about 4 years. And only recently took an interest in actually using it propperly. I've just about used it to it's maximum potential. The longest shutter speed on my camera is 4 seconds so i'm really limited by that, and also the lack of accessories available for it. I'm busting to get myself a half decent DSLR so I can broaden my horizons a bit more.

  • 4 seconds can produce quite good results for waterfalls but for car light traces you will need betweenn 6 and 20 (depending on the speed of the car and the number of cars that the camera records within the time. If you dont have a tripod you can set your camera down on a bin or railings.

  • I am trying to find a good vantage point to take a light trail shot of a train. with a good back drop.

you could try Sydenham Bridge (Belfast city Airport) You have a choice of capturing the light trails of both trains and cars. The Harland & Wolffe cranes could provide a backdrop or you might be lucky to capture the light trail of a BMI jet during take off. Of course it all depends on having a wide angle lens and quality of the camera.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience.

  • how do you change the shutter speed?

  • I done a light trail shot of a single car at corrs corner roundabout. It turned out ok. but the trail stopped just before the car went out of eye shot. I have a tripod stand and it's worth more than the camera used on it. I have my eyes on a new DSLR camera and can't wait to get it.

  • I like the one from the bridge at bellevue arms
