  • No...the game was thought of in Springfield.

The first rules were written in Kansas. It became an official game in Lawrence, KS with James Naismith and Forrest Allen.

  • yes but espn calls kansas the birthplace of basketball, kansas is where it got its popularity from

  • Springfield Massachusetts is the Birthplace of Basketball, and James Naismith invented Basketball in Springfield. The National Basketball Hall of Fame is in Springfield MA.

  • it was james naismith who created basketball and he came to coach kansas, actually teach so you can say its the birth place of basketball

  • What book should I read genius. KU did not invent basketball. That's a historical fact. Now, if you want to make personal insults lets keep them above the belt ... at least that's what I try to do with your mom ... only her mouth will do.

  • O P.S. its backWOODS not backWARDS.

  • That's kind of ignorant. How many KU graduates do you personally know?

  • Yes, very funny. Just out of curiosity, what is the school that you support so much that makes you think KU is a horrible school?

  • wow, your student athletes graduate. ku must be tough.

  • Hmm...nope, it isn't. In fact, it shares admissions requirements with Iowa State, Kansas State, Missouri, Nebraska (depending on major), Texas A&M (depending on major), and Texas Tech. Something else to keep in mind: KU has more student athletes finish college and earn their degree than any other Big 12 school. Additionally, Lawrence, KS is consistently rated as one of the most educated cities in the United States, with over eighty percent having attended KU.
