@lacochinit My avg. house as less than.35 ACH, my blower door is on its last leg, so it has seen some use over the years, and the energy conservatory has been good to me. It always seems there has to be people out there that have zero building experience, zero blower door or duct blaster experience, talking about shit they know nothing about. Why do so many licensed HVAC guys agree with me? We all sit back and laugh at the new foam guys about to go out of a business based on lies.
@01mustang05 Second, to keep water vapor from condensating while diffusing through walls, r-value allows for no sudden temperature changes, meaning no condenstion w/in the walls. Wonder how those 150 year old homes survived you your local downtown? Diffusion, w/out it, any wood product in your home will most likely rot.
@01mustang05 There is no room for "opinions" here in the real world of home const., there is only providing the best product for the customers budget. I have seen many builders fall for the residential spray foam BS, and when the savings don't match the costs, owner see this and those builders don't last. You obviously don't realize for every climate, is a different r-value based on condensation, and performance. First,, trapping the water vapor is asking for trouble, NO VAPOR BARRIERS.
@lacochinit Sure, the insulation that has ruled over 85% of the market for over 50 years is bad for you now? The govt. recommends it because it it bad for people? The Energy Star logo on the side of the bags means bad for you? Paint requires more of a mask rating than insulation installers, maybe we should worry about paints too, and then all the VOC's coming from finishes and carpets? Or we can assume that foam in all it's glory, over many decades, is only 5% of the market for a good reason.
@01mustang05 I could'nt explain it in 500 characters, especially to a retarded person. Get your own degrees, and experience, and thousands of satisfied customers, you won't need to explain shit.
d1 in chaarge! you think the blower test will pass on a house insulated with a porous material? think again moron "LOOSE PARTICULES" get in your lungs. dont you get it? do a test yourself and write back later. "if you dare" ..... grab a fist of that crap and sniff it. now! run and wash your ugly face. and tell me what you think. aahh! and try the same with foam ......see the difference? ...looser till the end! arent you?
@d1incharge Wow,Your30years of oldschool mentality BS has turned u in2an asshole.
Havin a diference in opinion is OK; being an asshole2others is not. Guess that’s why u can’t backup ur statements with an explanation of what’s realy going on with Heat, cold, wind, condensation and water vapor.
If u can’t explain why then u are just another sheep.
IE. Winter->If water vapor condenses into water within a wall cavity it wil conduct cold,=a cold wall,=more$ and possible structural damage.
Scenario.....Want to add an electrical plug on a wall that was originally foam sprayed.
Just trying to run a new wire to feed the plug now becomes a major project...
