A double-crested cormorant dries itself, then flies away, in Almansor Park, Alhambra, CA.
The feathers of cormorants are not waterproof, and therefore do not trap air underneath. This makes it easier for them to dive but on the other hand they need to dry their wings by airing them after getting wet.
