Parrot Poop

My bird poops when I tell him to. He goes in the sink and not on the furniture. No more white skid marks on the leather sofa!

First, learn the bird's pooping habits: how often and clues showing he's about to go. Next, come up with a word to bridge the action to something pleasant. I used "go poo" but I wish I would have thought of something funny. One guy I know says, "sit" and the bird poops. Say the word and give him a treat every time he poops. So, he poops, you say "poo! good bird," and give him a treat. After a while you'll know when he has to go; you say the word before he goes and give a treat. He'll catch on.

He is a green cheek conure. They are very trainable.

I have a 30 year old Gold Cap Conure Hen and she will poop anywhere you tell her to, She will never poop in her cage so I leave her cage door open. She will come out and go on the paper I place there for her.

My lovebird does the same thing. Though, he's trained to poop when he's placed on top of his cage.
