Maplehurst Jail

Maplehurst Correctional Complex is Canada's largest correctional facility. It is a provincial jail that houses people being held on pretrial custody and those serving sentences of 2 years or less. Maplehurst is located in the town of Milton outside of the city of Toronto. It was first built in 1975. In 2001 it underwent major renovation as part of the Ontario provincial Conservative government's "superjail" scheme. Maplehurst was the first of Ontario's so-called superjails housing prisoners from multiple jurisdictions in pod-like units. This is the facility where rapper Lloyd Banks was briefly held in January 2010 on assault charges.

I would say about 50% of the inmates don't deserve to be there. They're not all murderers and rapist. Thats a very small %. Most are in for stupid shit that snowballed.

you guys have no say #1. i was there because i was accused by peel who is the most corrupted police divisions in north america, for being accused of someone else. never had a a record. lived an honest life. but was blamed for someone elses mistakes and did a year due to a flop lawyer. when it came to trial the division lost video footage, because they didnt want to do the research ontop they were guilty and would look stupid if i won. in ontario if u have money your free if not your screwed!!

To all the people who had been to Maplehurst. You guys had made bad choices, you can complain about doing time there. But you did it to yourself, the law may have given you a second chance to change your life around. But everyone of you reoffend anyway, and you never learn. It is not worth having a record, you can be pardoned but it is a three year process. For federal crimes its seven to ten years, I have to sympothy for criminals, especially murderers,rapists,sex offenders.
