We've been working on Dewey for nearly two years to tame him. It's a long process that takes a lot of patience, but we are making progress!

The two year time frame we refer to is to get him where he is at now. He learned some basic stepping up after 6 to 8 months of working with him.

  • for a lovebird to be trained does it have to be a baby and teach it or can it be a adult because i bought lovebirds i love themm but they just dont let me get them

  • @daysienaim any bird can learn to trust.

  • why r breeders more afraid then pets? (lovebirds)

  • Because they are not used to living with people, and they see their cage as their only home instead of the entire house.

  • hi I have a lovebird that looks exactly like Dewy and I got him about two weeks ago. I was just wondering what type he is ? I have searched but I came up empty. please help me so many people have asked me what kind and I can't answer

  • I bought 2 lovebirds, younger than 4 months old, i dont know the exact age, and they would fly away if i ever opened my hand, so after 3 days trying to tame them, i decided to clip their feathers and their behaviour changed immeadiatly. After only 1 hour they were tamed, they now stay on our shoulders, they step up without even knowing or having been trained for stepping up and they sleep with us. I can't even believe this is happening

  • HI, I used to have 2 lovebirds and they always seem to be very happy. Unfortunately about a month ago one of them just day and now Pichi is completely sad. It started pulling his feather and now he has no feather on his chest and part of the back. He looked so sad, stoped eating. I have move the cage into my office so he is with me, I also started to put you tuve clps and he is much more chirpy and sings back. Any ideas? Does he need another bird? Is it a good idea?
