At this year's EVE Fanfest, EVE Online developer CCP Games showed a trailer outlining their vision for the game's future. Even if you don't play EVE, you'll get some entertainment out of this cinematic video.
The trailer begins on a space station orbiting a planet. A man on the station is contacted by a mercenary team on the planet below. They were hired to take an objective but need close air support. The man betrays them, deciding to just nuke the battle from orbit and kill friend and foe alike. He's unable to enjoy his victory, though, as he's promptly gunned down by a woman.
What's this all mean? Well, first and foremost, it's hinting at the integration between EVE Online and Dust 514, the console MMOFPS being developed by CCP. The footage of people walking around space stations is a reference to a new feature as well. At some point in the future, EVE players will be able to interact "face-to-face" on space stations. They probably won't be shooting each other but you can't blame CCP for trying to be a bit dramatic with the trailer.
The whole point of the trailer is just to wow players and get them psyched for the future. Hopefully it does something for you.
