I bought your 101 tips & tricks CD and it has been very helpful. BUT the "Reverse" function is displayed in a grey color, making it impossible for me to reverse the video segment at all. Could you help?

@ALEXIMYLOVE If you have a highly compressed video clip (ie divx or xvid) some effects, including reverse can't be applied, due to the high lossy compression.
Divx, xvid, and some mov clips downloaded from youtube, shot with still photo cameras, video game captures, and analog video capture devices are compressed so much that there is little video data for the editing program to work with.

@version147 Highlight the portion you want to render, choose 'render as', and place a check in 'loop region only'.
This will render just the part of the clip you have selected.

why is that my clip "lags" when i reverse it? It does not flow smoothlly

@dazzitboy If your clip is mov, mpeg4, divx or xvid encoded, it will lag due to the video codec used in those formats.
If you want to do advanced video effects, start with high quality video, not compressed video formats.
