I used to play this song with Jerry Steinport and his orchestra at the old Phil Oosterhouse Ballroom above Moores Hobby Shop on Fulton--Grand Rapids, Michigan. We received $6.00 for 3 1/2 hours--then would go to Hattems for Chicken in the Rough--$1.50.
Larry Elgart did an album called The City, with music by Bobby Scott around 1961 . One of my biggest holy grails. Been looking for it for 36 years. Found it yesterday. (April 1, 2011) I was looking under Bobby Scott all the time...Absolutely magical recording.
Larry is in his 70's now. I saw him and his band in concert several years ago. He practices every day and sounds just as good as when these recordings were made.
I really like this version of this tune. Again, very different from the Dorsey or the Les Brown--which are more straightforward. Also, incredible handling of the alto by Larry E. Spectacular sound! Thanks for the posting.

I've always loved the studio sound of the Elgarts.
