My Review Of The Brother Printer MFC-290C
Brother Printer Model MFC-290c is defiantly a Ink Hog...This printer is constantly cleaning the heads. You unplug it so that it can't clean the heads constantly & then when you plug it back in it cleans the heads. I like printing a lot of stuff in just black & white & even when you print in just black & white with this printer it uses the color any way. Then you run out of one color & even though all you want to do is print a black & white page & it is not the black that ran out it will not print unless it has the stupid colors. If you run out of a color it will not let you scan to the computer as well. It is the worst printer I have ever owned. I just wish I hadn't gave away my other lexmark printer & scanner before I realized this. I have had lexmark & hp printers & they were a lot better not ink hogs like this one..Didn't matter if you ran out of the colors if the black was still full they would print & scan. After this printer I will never ever buy another Brother printer again. The Brother Printer Model MFC-290c is "Absolute garbage"
I agree, I previously owned a brother printer that stopped printing yellow.
6month ago I against better judgement bought a Brother DCP-375cw since it was wireless. The only thing this curse of a printer has going for it, is that it has a paper tray. Networking sucks the printer goes offline all the time, the software that comes with it sucks, and to top it off the garbage printer just stopped printing black, 2 days after the warranty expired.

@MrTimjd123 I have to agree. I just put in NEW cartridges and still says can not detect, because I havent used it for months :(

The brother mfc 290 c is not any ordinary printer because the ink cartridge does not sit on the print head like many other printers. Instead it uses flexible tubing to transfer the ink from the ink cartridges to the print head. The tubes that carry the ink are thin and flexible. Due to its thinness ink left sitting inside of the tubes can dry rot inside and cause a clog. This is especially common for black ink.

These people are crooks. They say the ink is empty when in fact still at 30% left.

I bought this printer too. It worked for two weeks before it started acting up. It sucks.
