Maybe Obama's long-term plan is to have Ted (the "Hero of Chappaquiddick") offer to drive Hillary to the Convention.

I don't like what the Clintons did and am an Obama supporter, but I have a hard time believing Bill doesn't know exactly what he's doing. I don't think he's 'lost it'. He'll be back, which is worrying.
