Louisiana-Lafayette surprised many as they won Game 6 and Game 9 after losing to Stanford in the first round. The Cardinals and the Ragin' Cajuns would face off again in Game 11. Though the Ragin' Cajuns scored 9 runs they could cool the hot bats of the Stanford Cardinals as they posted 19 runs. In the championship game, stanford went up early 5-2, but LSU would tie the game in the 8th inning. Then in the 9th inning with a man on second LSU's Brad Creese hit a single into left field scoring the game winning run.
