This workshop was titled "On the Sustainability of Prisions: Economic & Philosophical Considerations" and was given on October 2, 2009

Presenters will provide an overview of the current prison crisis, focusing on the spiraling economic consequences of devoting massive resources to prison at the expense of education, the environment, health care, or other services for the public good. Panel speakers also explore the phenomenon of privitization of prisons & prison services, or a new breed of prisions for profit with little or no governmental oversight or regulation.
