  • Only a good idea if they swing a Huey over to your trailer and pick you up for a shark snack too. Most of the detainees are totally innocent people who were picked up because of bad intel. The U.S. was giving 5k$ for info on possible terrorists in Iraq - too tempting for some to call the U.S. on someone they didn't like. 5K$ is like a whole years wage for turning over some innocent stooge. Dumb system by dumb people...where you involved?

  • Brian MIzer is freakin' hero.

  • It's good to see the military lawyers speaking out against the kangaroo courts set up. Constitutionally established criminal justice in both federal and military systems are beyond adequate. Every crime these terrorists have committed are violations of federal law. a federal court has proper jurisdiction. Why don't politicians ever check th law books to see if its already illegal?

  • And now the NY Times has retracted the false story, describing it more along the lines of what *I* said - they conflated both the small handful of verifiable detainees with the larger group of UNverifiable detainees, the Bush numbers were ALWAYS suspect because they JUMPED AROUND with their numbers, etc. Keep watching Fox News to stay UNinformed.

  • (cont'd 2) but instead sent to other countries. You "forgot" to mention that it was because of the lack of info obtained (they gave up KSM and Jose Padilla when we used proper techniques, but clammed up when harsh interrogation was introduced) through Bush policies, and the lack of investigation and evidence-collection, that we have no evidence on some of these guys, which may end up acquiting them. If they had done the job right, we would have an open-and-shut case on these guys.

  • (cont'd) on their watch). You also "forgot" to mention that it says that NONE of the 45 unnamed detainees are verifiable and only a handful of the 29 named detainees are verifiable. You also "forgot" to mention that until word of this report came out, the Bush Administration numbers were rightly considered suspect. You "forgot" to mention Obama's speech where he basically says that they will be tried and convicted, and if someone they are found not guilty, they will NOT be released in the US

  • What I found remarkable is that you "forgot" to mention that right after the "little will" quote, they said that it was a bad situation because if they didn't release it, they would be seen as protecting Obama and if they did they woudl be seen as undermining Obama. You also "forgot" to mention that there wasn't pressure from the OBAMA WHITEHOUSE but from the DoD, specifically from HOLD-OVER guys from the Bush Admin to not release it so they can protect their jobs (these guys were released

  • Yes well here's some more of that "Republican fearmongering" for you courtesy of todays NY Times: Search "Later Terror Link Cited for 1 in 7 Freed Detainees"

What I found remarkable about the story was that they didn't quote Cheney, but Pentagon officials who said:"...there was little will at the Pentagon to release the report because it had become politically radioactive under Mr. Obama." Also according to the report regard those 74(14% recidivism) detainees, the report identified 29 by name.

  • (cont'd) Repubs ALWAYS play the TERROR and FEARMONGERING card, and the Dems just bow down and take it - they haven't realized that the public agrees that Dems are just as smart, intelligent, with good policies, on national security issues as the Repubs are, if not more.

  • One last thing - yes, they "scared the Democrats" - guess you haven't seen the "scary" Republican ad (complete with O Fortuna pumping in the background) that LIES about detainees allegedly being "released" into the United States (they would be put into SUPERMAX facilities where terrorists have ALREADY been held without problems). Next thing you know, Harry Reid says that they do not want to "release" detainees into the US - like I said, he is a fuckstick who is too used to sucking off Repubs

  • What a colorful and charming story. I would love to read your version of "Osama bin Laden: A History of Al Qaeda and their petitepoi stitched bandoliers"
