What Really Happened to Riku's Hair

So, I recently saw the new Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance trailer, and I am SUPER EXCITED for it. I have to get myself a 3DS now. Combining two of my favorite games, The World Ends With You and Kingdom Hearts = awesome.

However, I see that a lot of people (including myself) are wondering what happened to Riku's hair. That inspired me to make this.
