Wow. Rachel Maddow got killed in this discussion. She just kept repeating the same thing over and over. Pat Buchanan made a lot of sense here - and I'm a minority. Buchanan did NOT come off as a bigot or a racist.

Rachel lost that argument. That's why she kept trying to harp on the same chord. She avoided the moral argument that Pat was making, that minorities seem to overlook -- perpetuating the same policies that end up biting the minorities on the ass.

To me, the affirmative action law illustrates exactly why the government NECESSARILY tramples the rights of a minority each time it writes a law. You have to take the good with the bad... until the bad pile gets too big -- illustrating the flaw of gov.

i understand pats perspective. the trouble is that it sounds like she is not understand what he is saying.. He is saying fuck affirmative action,, the best man for the job... I agree with him.. and i am a minority.. Why should we give a job to someone that doesn't know what they are doing.

Maybe Buchanan and Sotomayor should sit down and have a back-and-forth about law and the Constitution on television, live, and without preparation. I bet Buchanan would be served humble pie.
