Starting in 1960 the American Football League was formed.They each had their own chhampionship game,but the National Football League game meant more.NBC carried the AFL games in spite of low ratings.CBS carried the NFL.Each had their own draft,leading to a bidding war over the college players drafted.The owners decded to merge to prevent this.The first four Super Bowls were still separate leagues.NFL won two and AFL won two.The two AFL wins were giant upsets.

Still it's better than soccer, basketball or watever the world plays. am foreign and I grew up on European Soccer, but football is way more competitve than soccer. Am still an Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid fan but the Carolina Panthers come first.
