Thank you, Sony Entertainment, for allowing me to use this song for my video.
In a bed of resurrection fern, on the limb of a very old oak tree, a baby cedar grew. Several weeks before Hurricane Charley ripped through Central Florida, I discovered the baby tree and photographed it. I went back the following week to take more pictures and to ask the owners if I could remove it and plant it in my back yard. They would not let me, because the little tree was already drawing a small crowd of admirers.

I was saddened to learn that the hurricane had destroyed both the cedar and her host oak.

I'll always wish I could have saved it, because it symbolized the beautiful struggle to survive in the most unexpected places.

At least we have the photographs to remember what this little tree could have become, had it had the chance.

(This is a republish, because I had the year wrong on the original video. Hurricane Charley came through in 2004, and I can't imagine how I got that wrong. :o/ )
