Planting Rice in Kashiwa, Japan - May 23, 2009

Today, we watched as the back rice field was planted! The landlord and the other farmers in the co-op drained the rice field that has been flooded for a week. Next, they loaded up the planting machine.

The whole field was planting in less than 10 minutes! There was no wasted space in the corners, as if the field was designed specifically for this model of planter.

The color of the rice shoots was a brilliant green - beautiful!
