On May 28, 2011 a Prayer Vigil and a Press Conference was at the base of the Holy San Francisco Peaks, north of Flagstaff, AZ. Arizona Snowbowl Ski Resort started construction for a pipeline to transport reclaim wastewater up the mountain to the ski resort.

  • I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.

    -Dr. MLK Jr.

  • @MrLost602 That's like the South saying we need slavery b/c our society has no structural economy without it. Like racism, these notions of progress are structural and you need to think outside the box, beyond what people tell your is "ideal". When you're putting your notions of truth before others, it doesn't seem "ideal". It seems like a cultural decline as you begin to eliminate diversity behind the prima facie of globalization: replacing cultural identity for commerce.

  • @georgert That's not sacred, that's only you're way to evade any sense of responsibility. And if you knew anything about reservations, you'd know that corporations are praying upon communities by pulling resources that they say are necessary for your Americans, yet are pulling uranium into the area creating cancerous environments. You'd also know our water rights are constantly being violated and we manage to subsist off livestock, living within our means without running water or electricity.

  • @MrLost602 ok? does it look like we hold the bible on a stature of importance? i think not! our mountain is as sacred as jerusalem and mount sinai are sacred to the jews!

  • @georgert AMEN!!!!!!

  • I pray for a prosperous ski area, lots of snow, whether man made or natural. The mountain is sacred to me because I make my living at the ski area. Artificial snow creates a sold base and guarantees a ski season. That means I can pay my rent and pay my bills. The footprint of the ski area is a fraction of the total acreage available to the native Americans and anyone else who want to "commune" with nature. I support the efforts of the ski area to expand and provide a quality mountain experience.

  • How can you be so stupid? Fourwinds? Wake up! You can't be native American thinking like that. Let's pour toilet water in your families face! Oh not the part we pee in just the part we flush our unwanted drugs down, or whatever else we don't want! The courts wouldn't have passed it, if it wasn't okay? Are you kidding? Ya the courts always do what's right! Come on brother, please!

  • This is sad. You can never expect the white eyes to understand our connection with mother earth. it's crazy stuff like this that will destroy mother earth, or cause her to destroy us.

  • @FourWinds61 in question up there it would be as well and would be fine to drink thats why a judge ruled that there is no to little health risk. So I dont see the problem.

  • @FourWinds61 Yeah business and jobs our society today in the U.S. needs and thrives off of work. Most people today are not of the kind to hunt and gather for livelihood. Economics and Technology have become ingrained in our culture and our culture needs that to survive, and the additions to the ski resort would help the boosting of the State of Arizona's economy by creating new jobs. Yes our water is treated here in phoenix, and from all the documentation I have read on the water
