DIY Kayak Sail v2

This is the second version of my homemade sail. This time I used a clear shower curtain liner and added a second boom to make a rectangular sail and double its area from the previous triangular sail. It measures approximately 3'x6'.

Awesome Rig! I've been thinking of modifying something similar for years on my yak. Do you think that if you add surface area to your rudder it will give you more stability like a keel does on a sailboat?

@thewetturd I think a centerboard is needed to add more stability, but I have zero sailing experience, so I could be wrong!

@ruta9 Let me know when you get your sail done. I had never heard of Gustavo Cordera. I do look like him! That's the third famous person I've been told that I look like, Chris Elliott and Anthony Edwards too. Depends on how I trim my beard I guess.

I'm always so impressed when people like your good self come up with such professional solutions. You may think it's cheating but I would recommend the Hobie outriggers that I use on my Hobie Sport. They're expensive but light and flexible and do a good job.

Nice work..You need some sail battens to get the Aerofoil shape on your sail

Were you ever able to tack against the wind or was this kayak sail strictly for when the wind was more toward your back.
