UFO Mothership Near the sun! August 30 2011

August 30 2011 Discovered on the SOHO live website.. Huge object close to the sun..perhaps a power source..

@Abstruse1nk and @Onecycled: I'm sure it will still be there in a couple of days. I've made a video, see: youtube.com/watch?v=RqWncKthsf­4 of the last 6 days on Lasco3, with a red 'start' marker, so you can see Venus's path. It looks as she will remain in frame for some time yet, but will continue to move left, away from the sun, until moving off-screen. I feel as though I'm wasting my breath, but I can assure you all is perfectly normal! You don't SERIOUSLY think it's a mothership, do you???

@indigo1952 hahah I just said I agree with you..I will wait and watch and if your right your right..No i mean you make a good argument to Venus's credit..so i will take your advice and wait it out. I was not sure what it was. ... like i said.

@Onecyded It moves at approximately 1.6 degrees per day, so it is NOT in the same position - it will have moved by about 3 degrees in those 2 days, which isn't going to show clearly. Leave it a few more days and you'll see that it's either moving closer to the sun or further away (I'm not sure of the direction of the orbit). Really, there are so many real mysteries out there - why invent ones that don't exist? :-D

@indigo1952 is it not weird that its 2 days later and ITS STILL IN THE SAME SPOT..it would have moved on by now if it was Venus

There have been many unknown objects. There are things coming into the field of view every once and a while that turn. Those are amazing.

Now for the planet in the picture, just look back a week or so. You will find we have been watching it for a while. Look at previous days when it has been Mercury.

If you don't believe it's Venus, go here: fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/Yoursky and set the Universal Time field to the date and time of your video and check Moon & Planets in Display Options. You will see that Venus is in the exact same position as your object. If you STILL don't believe, there are plenty of amateur astronomer forums where you can ask. But IT IS VENUS!!!
