We live in a world of poverty, war, and environmental devastation. A world where living standards for working people plummet while an elite few enjoy lives of unbelievable wealth and power.

Something different—an alternative to capitalism—is desperately needed. But what should replace it?

"The Case for Socialism," by SocialistWorker.org editor Alan Maass, proposes socialism. A society built from the bottom up through the struggles of ordinary people against exploitation, oppression, and injustice—one in which people come before profit. A society based on the principles of equality, democracy, and freedom.

Here a presentation on the Case for Socialism with Sherry Wolf, the author of "Sexuality and Socialism"

  • @Brdj010 While some Socialists believe communism is ideal, there are many many many who don't. I would argue that most, at least in America, advocate for a free market regulated economy with government only in charge of healthcare, transportation, schools, and the like. The difference would be that these things would actually be efficient and you would have a greater say in how they are run. You would still get paid more if you work harder. Socialism does not = Communism.

  • Yes because communism has worked so well before. This world isn't perfect by far, but these communist countries have been nothing but oppressive, murderous, evil regimes. This is the real world, buddy. Once you get older and move out of your parents basement you will realize that.

  • Very informative video.

  • I love this woman; she speaks so much sense!!!
